KC Wassner
KC’s work aims to create fundamental change in his clients’ bodies. He has over a decade of experience as a bodyworker. As a Certified Rolfer®, he assesses the body in motion and then responds to each client’s structural and functional patterns. KC does extensive work with chronic stress injuries, sports-related injuries, surgeries, scars, physical traumas, and various disorders (including EDS, TMJ, sciatica, migraines, IBS, vertigo, etc). Through his work with Doctors, KC has developed protocols to help prepare the body for surgeries and to heal properly afterward. He designs his work based on your needs, whether you’re trying to recover from an injury, face surgery, reclaim your sporting life, enhance performance, or deal with troublesome stress. His plan is always to meet your goals as swiftly as possible, so you can optimize your life right away.
Philosophy
"Body and mind are two sides of the same coin, and so the results of working with the body reach into the emotional, behavioral, even spiritual life of the individual."
-Ida P. Rolf, Ph.D.
As we all know, the body is made of various organs. Each of these organs, whether muscle, bone, nerve, or others, is contained within a bag-like casing of fascia. Fascia is the connective tissue, and it does just that: connects everything, and separates everything. Our body is designed to maintain connective tissue on its own, but injuries and the modern lifestyle of sedentary work compromise its ability to do so. Lack of movement causes layers of fascia to stick together, and our bodies get stiff and stop moving well. Standing upright becomes more difficult in this state, and the neck and shoulders curl forward. Many other physical symptoms may happen due to the restricted movement of muscles, nerves, and joints within the fabric of connective tissue in which they live. This process has a fun name, “fascial creep,” and is considered a normal part of aging.
Rolfing seeks to subvert this process. The manual work of Rolfing separates stuck layers of fascia, hydrates them, and organizes them sensibly according to function. This increases range of motion of the joints and makes proper posture easy. The body will feel light and supported and will be more resilient. In an organized body, pain disappears, so you can focus on living your life rather than living with pain.
